Creating new teams & Team investing, 17 March 2010 23:22. By Frank Van Laere I just wanted to mention something. I recently came up with a solution for those who want to create a new team, but can't because there are too many teams without a manager.
I've come up with the following solution:
A team needs to receive a ticket for being in a division. The way this works is all division 1, 2 & 3 teams automatically get a ticket for the next season (even if division 3 teams relegate or not). Then all other division 4 teams need to request a division ticket, which they'll get normally if the division isn't full. Teams can enter a division at any point in the season, but they can only enter on division at once, they can also only enter in division 4 of course.
That way this would allow new teams to be created, and it wouldn't be a problem because abandoned teams just don't request a ticket for a division (as there's no manager obviously). This also gives people the chance to pick a division and avoid being slotted in an empty division.
This also introduces another cool feature, it would be possible to be a manager of a team, who isn't in a division. That way you could develop (even though sponsor money is limited) and then join a division the next season.
But, that also brings me to another something that needs discussing. Because you can't just start developing from 1 000 000,- for an entire season, you need some sort of funding.
It's something I've always wanted in Pitwall, and I've come up with some sort of a plan. Right now all teams are privateers. That's all good, but it should also be possible to be part of an investment company (like BMW invested in Sauber).
The way it would work is like this: the investors would give you a large sum of money in the beginning of the season. Attached to that sum of money is a paper which states the objectives of the season. If you fail miserably in your objectives, you'll more than probably be fired. If you only just miss the objectives, there's a good chance you'll stay, and if you reach them you won't have any problems of staying with the team. Those seasonal objectives stay as long as the contract lasts. Once the contract runs out, the team will be yours again and no-one will fire you for bad results.
As you all realize by now, it's not something that is implemented at once, it needs a lot of talking and thinking about. I've done already a big part of that, but I wanted to hear what you all think about it. Obviously this will take a few seasons before it has a chance of being implemented, as I will be releasing the development update first.
Talking about the development update, I am quite busy at the moment, but I'm hoping for a few days off in the Easter break so that I have a chance of implementing some stuff. As soon as I have nearly finished the update, I'll put it on the beta site. - Discuss about this in the forum |
