....Bad (4), Unsure (5), Okay (6).....

I am not convinced Unsure is a meaningful label for a skill level between Bad and Okay. In common English, Unsure means you don't really know how good something is. Could be bad, could be great, but you are just not sure.

Also, it's very close to Unknown which we use for an untested part or driver, both in terms of meaning and in terms of its ability to be mis-read if you are skimming through your parts list too quickly.

So my suggestion would be to rename Unsure as Average, whether it appllies to parts, drivers, or anything else in the Pitwall world. Presumably it's just a case of editing a look-up table or two; the work of a few minutes?

I agree. When I first joined I rejected a bunch of Unsure drivers in favour of Very bad ones. I feared I could be risking a Terrible driver.

On this subject, there are a few other areas with similar issues. The word "Reliability", for example, generally means the probability of an engine failing. But in this game, it means the lifespan. Perhaps engines and other components should have its reliability replaced with Durability. And maybe rename fuel durability as fuel efficiency.

Do we need 10 step categorizing in parts contracts etc? Right now we have a 10 step system in game apart from drivers who have 5 steps. Simpler is usually easier to understand so why not go to 5 steps everywhere?

Superb, Good, Average, Bad, Terrible - that would be enough.

I think the 10 needs to stay as it gives you a better idea as to how long your parts will last in a race. Right now if your part gets to Awful in testing you know you wont be able to push it too much more in the race, with a 5 step system it could be on the verge of Terrible but still display Bad.

I think we could live with a bit more uncertainty on parts side. It would also spice up the races a bit imo. I think the "new" terrible would include the "old" awful and terrible so you could still push it but with a bit more uncertainty and risk -> more spice.

I support ivelak's idea... it is all too predictable. Even redbull, ferrari and mclaren have their share of failures.

Think we should take what Frank did with the drivers and do the same to the parts. Since we really would know what condition the parts would be in during practice, qualifying and the race other then a vague idea. So switching down into 5 from the current 10 but with the other five hidden. This would spice up the racing a bit since we wouldn't know if the parts we put on the car was in fact the best part.

Look at how many times Redbull this season didn't realize that had some small fundamental mistakes with parts or the chassis itself.

Several times i felt like suggesting the same thing. Only i would've suggested 'mediocre'.

'Unsure' is certainly the wrong word, it's meaning is completely wrong. 'Average' is definately an improvement, but still the meaning isn't quite correct. 'Average' is a mathematical mid-point. To say a part is 'average' is to say the part is half as good as all parts in existence, which isn't necessarilly true.

'Mediocre', by definition, means exactly what we want to describe - being something that is neither good nor bad. It's in the middle.

But anyway, definately an improvement. Well done.

I know what you mean about it techinically meaning the exact middle...
But alot of the time people would understand it to be something that is neither good nor bad, ie: lacking exceptional quality or ability

I'd been thinking about this too, and how an unsure driver could range from Awful to Superb, but then figured it out after my first week ;)

Looks slightly strange having both Okay and Average levels on contracts, not immediately clear which is better? I second Canis' idea to change to 'mediocre'.
