Hi i thought i'd try and give new users some constructive advise when beginning the game. The advise i give here is the same advise i gave to Animal Racing before he started the game. He swiftly got promoted in his first season and is now in his third season in div 3.7 and looking like challenging for the title this season.
First thing all new teams do is go to staff market and hire the best head commercial they can get for free. -if only absolute rubbish ones are availble have a look to see if any better ones are free in a week or two time - if there are hire a crap one for ONE week and then sighn a better one to take over next week. If your only able to sighn head commercials of a low quality its a good idea to only give them a short contract that way any better ones you sign will take over after the old one finishes their contract. - i just spent two and a half million terminating a v good h commercials contract - for an even better one this season. don't make this mistake for low quality ones.
Now go to your staff page and hire 100 commercials. Now go to sponsor page and hire up as many sponsors as you can your head commercial and staff will get you better money than if you did this first.
Thats it for your first day - do not do anything else apart from having a look around.
2nd day go to your economy page and have a look at how much money you made in one day. x this by 7 and you have a weekly budget - all your staff and driver wages will be payed on monday morning and you should try to not spend more than your earning.
If it is near the end of the week it might be a good idea to just wait till monday before hiring drivers and more staff as you will pay them the moment they join you and then again on monday - therefore unless you are mad do not hire staff on sundays!!!
Drivers are a very important aspect of you team if you have good drivers in the lower divisions you can often win off the back of their ability but essentially for long term success you need to have a good car.
Hire the best free drivers you can but again like with head commercials it might be a good idea to only hire them for this season - that way you don't have to wait very long if you find a better replacement. Top quality drivers become available all the time and if youve got a keen eye you have a good chance to pick up awesome drivers for free. Alternatively top quality driver will be available to buy but often cost more than 5m so i wouldn't worry about this until you know what you are doing - give it 2 seasons.
I personally feel a test driver is usefull but not essential - therefore a new team shouln't rush and get one just yet -leave it a few weeks to see if you need one. -The only attribute you need in a test driver is setup and maybe charisma to help sponsors. Speed is non important as he will not be racing just helping setup your car.
You also need to go back to staff and hire around 30 -40 mechanics - don't bother with head mechanic they cost a lot and contribute very little to strategy/pitstops. Maybe get one next season.
After you have done all this you need to go back to your budget and see what money you have left. this is your development budget how much to spend on designers and developing your car - again like with head commercial get the best you can immediately. Or get a short contract and wait till a better one comes allong.
Staff designers again this depends on your buget - for a new team around a 100 is the norm but it's important to be cautous as it costs more to fire them - so hire 50 - 100 and in a few weeks if you have got the cash hire a few more.
One other important thing for new teams Do not hire coaches /scouts or youth drivers as they cost a lot of money and take a long time to develop - it's often cheeper to just by a top quality driver for around 7mil than train one up over 5 seasons paying coach and scouts fees.
This is something for when you have mastered the basics of running your team.
Contracts for your first season should always be own brand everything - even with good contracts your car will not be able to win races unless you get lucky. - remember one of the teams in your division has been relegated from div 3 and will be trying hard with a bigger budget to get back up. - you can't compete with that - yet....
Hope this helps new guys. -the idea with this is that you will not go into debt. and also you will have done things the right way around - ie get money first then get drivers etc. most people do things the wrong way around - i did, and then run into problems.

in races weeks is the car and driver who's benefit (testing is also for the car setup), in testing weeks is only the drivers(testing is also for parts development). be sure to see if your drivers already reach their limit, scout your own drivers to see that.

Both skills and development will improve with laps, but I think you'd need to do a few hundred laps to get a noticable improvement.

bump - for some reason it isn't showing me as the auther?????? lol
new players beware this is very out of date now especially sponsors section. - now you click on the sponsors to talk to and they show you what they are offering - and after a certain amout of time they choose which team to sponsor. - you have the option of negotiation with them which increases the amount of money they offer but lowers the chances of them choosing you.
best thing for new teams to do is select the free sponsors (as they will decide sooner) and don't negotiate with them. then hopefully you will have some income comming in within 2 days.
